Stained Glass Mosaic
Vineeta Chand, a stained glass mosaic artist based in West Berkeley, has been creating with glass for more than 25 years through her studio, Snoring Orange. Her work draws inspiration from California’s native landscapes, flora, and fauna, blending realistic detail with abstract interpretations of color and form. Each mosaic is hand-cut and often framed in upcycled materials, with some pieces incorporating locally sourced stones and driftwood to add depth, texture, and a strong connection to place. Her art captures both fragility and strength—reflecting moments as delicate as butterfly wings or as vibrant as the changing colors of California’s hillsides.
Beyond wall mosaics, Vineeta also creates outdoor art designed to bring color and light to gardens year-round. Her pieces range from whimsical glass-topped mushrooms to durable 2D and 3D relief wall hangings that interact with natural sunlight across their sculpted forms. Through a layered process of sculpting, casting, and mosaic application, Vineeta’s work explores the delicate balance between nature’s fleeting details and its enduring landscapes, offering viewers a celebration of beauty, resilience, and wonder.
