Friends of CHAC are artists and supporters who have played a meaningful role in the collective’s history. Whether they are founding members who have moved away, longtime volunteers who help sustain the space, or past artists who have left a lasting impact, their contributions continue to shape the CHAC community. Though they may not be active members, their presence is always valued and celebrated. 

Bea Acosta

Bea Acosta, a founding member of CHAC, is a local artist renowned for her intricately crafted ceramic masks and pine needle baskets. Her work reflects a deep connection to tradition and artistry, making her a cherished part of the CHAC community. 

Deborah Threlkel

Deborah Threlkel, a founding member of CHAC, is the creator behind Abalone Queen Jewelry. Known for her handcrafted pieces inspired by the natural beauty of the Mendocino Coast, her work beautifully incorporates abalone, reflecting the spirit of the sea in every design. 

Mike Sorbelli

Mike Sorbelli’s dedication to CHAC runs deep - he played a key role in painting the gallery’s interior when it first opened, leaving a lasting mark on the space and the community. Mike was also well know as a talented glass artist when he was still making art.
