Handmade Hats
Now based in Northern California, this artist's maker journey began in Switzerland, where knitting, sewing, and embroidery were part of the school curriculum—quickly becoming favorite subjects. The discovery of knitted and felted hats sparked a passion for felting, offering a way to create durable, water-resistant, and shape-holding designs. Seeking efficiency, the artist explored machine knitting but was told that shaping cylindrical forms wasn’t possible. Never one to back down from a challenge, they developed a method to make seamless, structured hats, allowing more time to focus on intricate embellishments.
The greatest inspiration now comes from experimenting with color. Each new yarn shipment brings the excitement of endless possibilities, with fresh color combinations waiting to be explored. What started as a simple hobby has evolved into a creative and fulfilling livelihood—one where craftsmanship and innovation continue to shape each unique piece.
