Model Photography, Storyteller
Gabriella Rachel Lotan is a storyteller, collaborative photographer, and medicine womxn whose work explores the deep interconnection between beings and the living planet. Rooted in the cycles of nature, her art challenges cultural narratives and thought constructs, offering a perspective that honors both the seen and unseen forces that shape existence. Through her photography and storytelling, she seeks to reclaim a habitat beyond imposed structures, focusing on themes of menstruality and animal resistance. Her work is an invitation to remember, to feel, and to embrace the raw intelligence of the body and earth.
Her 2024 collection, dear james, is an intimate and powerful reflection on pregnancy loss, deeply influenced by the experience of her aborted child. Capturing the intensity of grief and transformation, the collection was photographed by Zubin Sahney on Pomo land at Point Arena’s This Will Take Time and Sea Ranch. The images are printed on 100% cotton Moab Somerset museum rag, encased in museum glass and handcrafted old-growth redwood frames by Josh Goldsmith. Necklace photographs are printed on scratch-resistant aluminum and set in silver-plated pendants, preserving the weight of memory in tangible form.

"However long it takes, your heart and your mind will carve out a new life amid this weirdly devastated
landscape. Little by little, pain and love will find ways to coexist."
