Michelle Gilmore is a self-taught abstract artist living in Sea Ranch, California. She works primarily with acrylic paint and mixed media. Growing up with artistic parents, she has always had a deep connection to creativity.
Her artistic endeavor began with her love of horses which she sketched regularly. In her twenties and thirties, she made jewelry and stained glass. She continued sketching and painting, evolving over the years to include the human form and faces.
Since 2018 her focus has been on abstract expressionism, using textures and patterns. She works intuitively, beginning with scribbles, shapes, and marks, two or three colors, as well as black and white. Each piece evolves, so that the viewer may see a story unique to his or her eye.
She has studied with several local and national artists, including Flora Bowley, Nicholas Wilton, Connie Solera, Robert Burridge and Gordon Studer.
