I have always had a fascination with glass since I was a young child. It started with little blown glass animals I could buy at the toy store. In college I took my first stained glass class. I loved the way the light played with the glass. When my daughter got a job in high school, at a local stained glass and fused glass shop, I started taking classes there. Fused glass offered so many different techniques and possibilities! Dichroic glass was fairly new to the glass world and was perfect for making jewelry. Most of my work at that time was functional art. After retiring, I had more time to take classes and explore new techniques. While I still love making functional art, I have started working more with enamels and painting with frit. Nature is a frequent theme in my art pieces. I love combining different techniques and challenging myself. Nothing makes me happier than having someone else find joy in something that I've created.
